On 25.11.2022, teachers of our school took part in the training "Climate education" organised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment. At the training, they learned about the history of climate change on Earth, analysed the impact of this change on biodiversity. They looked at the role of biodiversity in climate processes. Part of the training was devoted to developing practical and social skills for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. It is useful to be familiar with these concepts, especially in the knowledge that climate phenomena will be an increasing threat to us.
Mitigation, are the actions that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase their uptake by ecosystems.
Climate change adaptation is the action taken to reduce the effects of climate change on the economy, society and the environment.
When talking about mitigation and adaptation, it is important to keep in mind the need to build the idea of cooperation and commitment to climate protection by societies in all countries. The teachers were particularly interested in the part of the training which was devoted to educating children and young people about climate change. The problems and most common mistakes in climate education were pointed out. The teachers could see the demonstration lesson about "Operation of the
electricity system".
