Students from our school took part in an Erasmus+ mobility project titled “We are the same despite our differences.” The project took place in Valença, a town located close to the Spanish border.

Our journey began with our arrival at the school, where we received a very warm welcome from students and teachers. On the first day, we attended presentations prepared by each country about cultural diversity. We were also given a tour of the school and took part in an IT lesson, where we learned how to edit videos. This skill was later used while creating our project films.

The next day, we travelled to Viana do Castelo. We visited the hospital ship Gil Eannes and the hill of Santa Luzia with the basilica Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The view of the Atlantic Ocean, which we could also admire from the bus, was truly impressive.

The third day was very active and creative. After meeting at school, we went to a local market, where we worked in international groups and recorded videos for our project. After returning to school for lunch, we visited the fortress in Valença, a UNESCO-listed site. We explored its walls, learned about its history, and visited a museum and
a church. The views from the top were unforgettable. We also took part in creative workshops, designing and making our own bags.

On the fourth day, we travelled to Porto. We visited the Church of Saint Francis and its underground areas, which made a big impression on us. We also explored the city, admired its architecture, and visited a beautiful train station. One of the highlights was a boat trip, as well as a cable car ride offering a stunning view of the city.

On the fifth day, we visited Santiago de Compostela, where we saw a magnificent church and had time to buy souvenirs. For many participants, it was one of the most memorable places of the trip.

In the evening, a farewell event was organized at the school by teachers and host families. We tasted traditional Portuguese dishes, including Bacalhau, as well as various desserts. The evening was enriched by performances of local folk dances.
It was also the time to present and watch the short films created by students from Poland, Portugal, and Turkey.

After these intense and exciting days, we returned home full of unforgettable memories. We enjoyed teamwork, trips, and learning about new cultures the most. The places we visited—especially the basilica in Viana do Castelo and the church
in Santiago de Compostela—made a great impression on us.

It was a truly special experience, and the kindness and hospitality of our Portuguese hosts will stay with us.
