In the 2025–2026 school year, our school is taking part in the Erasmus+ project ‘We are the same despite our differences’. The aim of the project is to prevent exclusion, segregation and discrimination in education; to educate pupils as equals with a strong sense of European citizenship; and to broaden the knowledge of both teachers and pupils on this subject.

The project partners are schools from Portugal and Turkey.

The Portuguese school is situated in Valença, a small historic town in the north of Portugal. The school has 1,500 students, of different nationalities, including India, China, Pakistan, Spain and Portugal.

The Turkish school is situated in south-eastern Turkey, in the city of Mersin. It is
a private secondary school attended by 136 students of different nationalities, including Afghans, Arabs and Kurds.

During the project, students will take part in workshops and lessons on the topic of discrimination. They will prepare presentations, films and role-plays related to the project’s theme. Three international meetings will be held during the school year, one at each partner school. The students will stay with their host families, gaining first-hand experience of the culture, cuisine, traditions and language of each country. They will also have the opportunity to test their English language skills and, most importantly, to make new friends.
