On April 27, 2023, students of class 4D went to Góra Gradowa to the Hevelianum Center for the "Air vs Vacuum" workshop. Before the classes, we admired the beautiful views and saw the historical exhibitions that are located in the buildings of the historic fort.
During the workshop we learned what air is, how much it weighs and whether we can find it in every corner of the Cosmos. We tried to imagine a tornado using the "water model" of a whirlwind. We understood what a vacuum is and how it affects the behavior of air-containing substances such as marshmallows and shaving foam. We conducted experiments using a vacuum pump and tried to fill the bags with air as quickly as the teacher did.
The next point of the program was the exhibition "With energy!". This largest exhibition in Hevelianum offers visitors dozens of interactive stands on energy: electricity, water, wind and solar, but also many other scientific issues.
A large part of the exhibition is devoted to ecological issues: threats to our planet, waste recycling and renewable energy sources.
Of course, everything can be touched, so we tried, experimented and had a great time. It turned out that gaining knowledge can be a great adventure!
